Nanophotonics, the study of light-matter interactions at the nanoscale, has emerged as a transformative field in optical communication systems. This paper explores the integration of nanophotonic devices into optical communication networks, highlighting their potential to enhance data transmission rates, reduce power consumption, and miniaturize system components. We discuss various nanophotonic structures, including photonic crystals, plasmonic waveguides, and metasurfaces, and their applications in modulators, switches, and sensors. The challenges of fabrication, scalability, and integration with existing technologies are also addressed. Through a comprehensive review, we aim to provide insights into the future of optical communication systems enabled by nanophotonics.
